I was born and raised in Chicago (South Side!), IL, attended high school in Meridian, MS, and I attended college in both Nashville, TN and Prairie View, TX.
When I'm not writing, internetting, or sleeping, I work as an Instructional Designer/ Trainer, assisting university faculty in the development and delivery of online and hybrid courses.
I currently live in Houston, TX with my wife Denise and our son, Major the 2nd (aka Super-Major or M2).
As a child, I watched my dad (Rest In Power) read novel after novel. He read, for the most part, sci/fi, fantasy and westerns. I always wondered what it was about those books that so engrossed him. When I asked him about it, he would simply say (he was a master of both hyperbole and understatement, by the way) "Reading these books keeps me outta trouble."
I knew there was more to it than that. When I was approaching my teen years I raided my dad's library, making it a point to read at least two or three novels in each genre that he collected. In a short time I realized what it was that captivated my dad. Those fantastic worlds and adventures provided a pleasant escape from the often harsh realities of everyday life on the South Side of Chicago. Fantasy was my favorite genre and sci-fi ran a close second. I was mesmerized by authors like Terry Brooks, Christopher Stasheff, and Isaac Asimov. Their work inspired me to begin creating my own stories.
I started by writing and drawing original super-hero comics. By age eighteen, my stories had become much longer and more complex. College life did not allow me the time to draw as much as I once did, so I began to craft my stories into novels. I had no intention of publishing my stories. They were written for the sole purpose of purging them from my overactive imagination in order to make room for even more wild imaginings.
The people I shared my stories with urged me to publish. I was hesitant at first, but when I realized that maybe I could create the same escape for people that other authors created for me, I decided to share my stories with the world.
I hope you can escape with me. Over and over and over again!
